Figure 2.3 Share of Renewable Energy in Power Generation Mix, 2024
In terms of photovoltaic power, countries such as Chile, Jordan, and the Arab Republic of Egypt are highly ranked for their potential according to World Bank/ESMAP (2020). Many Sahelian West African countries, such as Mali and Burkina Faso, also demonstrate strong solar potential according to the same ranking. For petroleum-importing nations such as Senegal and Mali, scaling up EVs can lower summarizes the share of renewable generation across the 40 countries examined in this study. Box 2.4 Electric Bus Rapid Transit in Tirana, Albania hydro generated) by developing electric bus rapid transit (e-BRT) in Tirana, its capital city. This project aims to modernize Tirana's aging and congested public transport system, while addressing air pollution and mobility inefficiencies. Phase 1 will serve three major corridors: 16 articulated buses plus 42 standard-length electric buses, which will form the backbone of Tirana's bus network. The project is expected to reduce 4,300 tons of CO2 emissions annually, along with a decrease in other local air pollutants.
